Tired From Enrollment

Whew.. I just woke up from my afternoon nap. I am really tired today after enrolling myself to our university so I decided to have some rest. Since there was a brownout also a while ago, I thought it is best to get some sleep. After around three hours, my brother woke me up and told me that the electric current supply is back. Although I thought I need to check my e-mail for this day, I still did not do it instead, I watched one of my favorite TV show - Betty La Fea. Hehehe.

My day was totally fine. How about you?

Helping Mom

I woke up early today to help my mom do some daily routines like cooking food, waking up my brother and any other things that most moms do every morning. Actually, it wasn't my intention to woke up early but I just did because I heard the loud voice of my mother waking up my brother in the other room. He used to do that every morning because my brother has a 6:00 AM class! Yes! That is soooo early. My brother is still in his first year in high school and considering that schedule, I know he will become so stressed out when he will reach in his senior year (just like me before..Hehehe).

And so, as I was saying, I helped my mom with all the early morning preparations and of course while refreshing PAYPERPOST and SOCIALSPARK! Hehehe! Since my mother was fast in cooking delicious foods, my brother was able to went out of the house 5:30 AM, just enough that he'll not be late for his six o'clock class. After helping my brother, I then faced again my computer to chat a bit with my online ate, ATE JOY! HEhehehe! Hello ate joy!

And so around six AM, my mother prepared herself also to meet again her students in this very wonderful day and while me getting ready also fo my 7:30 AM class!

6 Suave Dating Behaviors to Show You're Interested

This is from David Wygant.

1. Lean toward your date. Body language plays a huge role in what you communicate to others. This is especially true on a date, where the person you're with will be paying a lot of attention to your body language. So, when you're on a date with someone who interests you, you need to let him/her know it with your body language. One of the best ways is to lean in towards your date. Lean in and smile. And when you're leaning in, look at your date directly in his/her eyes.

2. Smile or laugh a bit when your date says something funny. While we all know it's important to listen to what your date is saying during a conversation, it's equally important to react to things that your date says that resonate with you. For instance, when your date is saying something funny, contribute to that part of the conversation. Keep the conversation rolling when it's on something funny and don't change the subject.

3. When your date says something intriguing, comment on it. When your date starts talking about a topic that is in an area of interest of yours, respond with questions and get more involved in that topic. Say, for instance you feel really passionate about an upcoming election and your date says "Well, I really don't think I'm going to bother voting." You can respond with something like "Wait a second. Why are you considering not voting?" Then, let the conversation flow from there. Asking questions when a date says something relating to an area of interest of yours is a great way to get into a deeper conversation with your date while also showing interest in what your date is saying.

4. Challenge your date a little bit. Gently challenging your date will lead to a stimulating conversation. It shows your date you're interested and engaged in the conversation, and that you're not just a puppet who just nods and agrees with everything.

5. Keep your body language open at all times. Do not fold your arms. Do not pick at your nails when you are telling a story or talking. Look at your date directly in their eyes. Don't look in other directions. If you don't keep eye contact, your date will not only think you lack interest, but that you're looking at somebody else.

6. Bring your date "into your space." When you catch yourself leaning back, lean forward towards your date. When you tell a story, be animated. Whenever you talk to your date, use hand gestures and engaging body language. Face your date and hold your in front of you. By doing all of this, you're inviting your date into your personal area. Your date will notice this and know you're interested.

The Wellness in Green

Even before, green has become one of my identity. I have green shirts, green shoes and even green underwear (oohh...that was long long ago! Hahaha!).

I browse over the Internet yesterday to find some interesting articles related to GREEN so I can share it to you. Luckily, I found one. An article written by Dr. Maoshing Ni , an anti-aging expert, doctor of Chinese medicine and the author of the best-selling book, "Secrets of Longevity." The article was entitled Leafy Greens for a Long Life. Read it below and discover how important GREEN is in our lives.

Leafy Greens for a Long Life

Looking for another way to go green? Start with your salad — there is much more in the produce section than just iceberg lettuce. With benefits ranging from a healthy immune system to strong bones, dark leafy greens will add fantastic flavor to your salads — and years to your life.

Greens: A Great Source of Folate
There is no way to predict who will contract fatal age-related conditions such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's disease, but one way to lower your odds may be to raise your daily folate intake. Scientists have found that older people have a tendency to be deficient in folate, which enables vitamins B6 and B12 to aid in hormone secretion, synthesize DNA, and manufacture the protective coating around nerves.

These three tasks are considered to be major factors in our bodies' defenses against these diseases. Folate is found in numerous foods — spinach, kale, beet greens, chard to name a few — but it is destroyed by heat, so these foods must be eaten raw or lightly cooked. This is one rare instance in which the synthetic form of folic acid is more easily absorbed by the body than the natural one. For people over the age of 50, a dose of 800 micrograms per day is recommended.

Can't Beat Beet Greens
Beets are an all-in-one superfood! The colorful beets contain powerful nutrients that help protect against heart disease, birth defects and cancer, especially colon cancer. And studies show that beets protect liver cells from harmful chemicals with a compound called betacyanin, one of the flavonoid families of antioxidant nutrients. So while roasted and boiled beets are a tasty and nutritious addition to any salad, consider that the beet greens are more nutritious than the beets themselves!

Beet greens are delicious and are rich in vitamins and minerals as well as beta-carotene and lutein. They have almost twice the potassium of beets and contain high levels of folic acid, which can help ward off certain birth defects and lung cancer. Beet greens can be prepared like any leafy green vegetable — sautéed in olive oil, steamed on the stovetop, or thrown into soups to up the health content.

Spinach Makes Health a Cinch
Spinach — packed with iron, beta-carotene, and vitamins C and K — is an essential food for strong bones and a healthy immune system. And it is rich in the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect the retina from age-related macular degeneration, making spinach crucial for healthy vision.

Before using, swish the spinach in a bowl of cold water until all grit is gone. Curly spinach will require cooking but the more readily available flat-leaf spinach is sweeter and works well in salads. Baby spinach is tender and mild, making it great to use raw in salads. To get healthy benefits for your eyesight, sauté your spinach in a little olive oil, since fat can increase lutein absorption. Keep in mind that fresh spinach decreases dramatically in volume when cooked. One pound will cook down to 1 cup — but you will be getting a hearty helping of nutrients in this small portion!

Fine and Dandelion
Disdained by gardeners as a pesky weed, this leafy green has been revered by traditional Chinese medicine as a powerful liver tonic. Dandelion is said to enhance the flow of bile in your body, improving the function of your liver, and remedying liver conditions such as hepatitis, gallstones, and jaundice. A daily cup of dandelion tea is recommended for anyone who feels run-down, sluggish, and over-stressed.

Aside from its herbal merits, dandelion greens are also an incredibly healthy food — chock full of vitamin C, higher in beta-carotene than carrots and richer in iron and calcium content than spinach. Toss a few raw dandelion leaves in your salad to add a hearty flavor. For the bigger, bitter-tasting leaves, blanch in boiling water for 45 seconds to soften the bitterness. Or sauté them for about 15 minutes with onions and garlic in olive oil.

I hope you find the life-giving properties of greens! I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

-Dr. Mao

Update Your Look With These Simple Tricks

Put on a skinny belt.
Add shape to a shift dress, a blousy top or an oversize cardigan by adding a low-slung leather belt, like Gisele did-and you don't need her body to pull it off.

Fancy-up your pony.
Get a red carpet one a la Eva Mendes's by teasing the front to add a bit of pouf and taming flyaways.

One word: hoops!
It's impossible not to look glam with them on. Jennifer Lopez went for triple-threat hoops, but any big, silvery kind will do. Just keep the makeup simple.

Do un-shy lips
A classic, starlet-red lipstick: The glammest of 'em all. Jessica Alba's shade looks pretty on all skin tones.

Play peek-a-boo.
Wear an open, fitted blazer over a flirty, low-cut cocktail dress like Thandie Newton did--the perfect combo of structure and all-out sexy.

Slide on a wide headband.
It looks equally chic with boing-y curls or straight hair.

Carry a colorful bag.
Spice up a neutral ensemble, as Amanda Bynes did, with a big, bright purse.

Try a chunky necklace.
Ditch the delicate jewelry for something with presence--see how this piece dresses up Mena Suvari's ordinary sundress?

Wear larger-than-life sunglasses.
A pair like Mischa Barton's (so Jackie O!) keeps the glare from the sun--or paparazzi flashes--stylishly at bay.

Elizabowl

The image you see above is called the Elizabowl, FIRST PLACE winner of the International Housewares Association's 2008 Student Design Competition.

For over 15 years now, there have been a nationwide contest that encourages and recognizes the unique creativity of young industrial designers. There one-of-a-kind innovations
and creations may appear in your own home someday soon.

Here's the complete article that describes the creation above, who made it, how and why it was made.

"Everybody knows, thanks to an old cliché, that one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. But never before has anyone offered such a thoughtful solution as Sarah O'Brien, a senior at the University of Louisiana.

O'Brien took first place in the 2008 Student Design Competition for her Elizabowl, an interlaced system of pockets that blossoms to accommodate the amount of fruit on hand. "Because each piece is kept in a separate container, if one piece starts to go bad it can't have that chemical conversation with neighboring fruit telling them to go bad," explains O'Brien.

Elizabowl demonstrates O'Brien's keen sense for industrial design and also her appreciation for history: Her invention is named for its similarity to collars worn during the Elizabethan period."

Dangers of Barefoot Lifestyle

Walking barefooted is one of the most exciting ways to enjoy summer. Without any hassle on your feet, you will sure have a great time running on beaches. But did you know that some people who are taking their shoes, sandals and socks suffer injuries such as cuts and puncture wounds. The worst thing is, some cases of these injuries develop infections that require surgery.

So if you are one of those people who finds a happy world barefooted, please keep in mind
these safety tips from the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons:

  • Make sure you're vaccinated against tetanus. Teens and adults should get booster shots every 10 years.
  • Apply sunscreen to the tops and bottoms of your feet to protect them from sunburn. Rare, but deadly, skin cancers can develop on the feet.
  • Wear flip-flops or sandals around swimming pools, locker rooms and beaches. They'll help protect against cuts and abrasions from rough anti-slip surfaces and sharp objects hidden in beach sand, and prevent contact with viruses and bacteria that can cause athlete's foot, plantar warts and other foot problems.
  • Use common sense. Every year, people lose toes while mowing the lawn barefoot and others suffer serious burns from accidentally stepping on stray campfire coals or fireworks. Remember that murky rivers, lakes and ponds can conceal sharp objects underwater.
  • People with diabetes should never go barefoot, even indoors, because they may not "feel" a foot injury.
  • If you suffer a puncture wound in your foot, see a doctor within 24 hours. A puncture wound must be cleaned properly and monitored throughout the healing process to avoid complications such as tissue and bone infections or damage to tendons or muscles in the foot.
  • Inspect your feet on a routine basis for skin problems such as warts, calluses, ingrown toenails, suspicious moles, spots or freckles. The sooner a condition is detected, the easier it is to treat.
Let's not risk our own self without thinking of our safety and just enjoying what we enjoying. We must also consider the awful things we might experience due to our carelessness. On the other hand, we must not also limit ourselves to things we know we can do! Think of precautions but make sure to push yourself to the highest and do the right thing.

Be safe always!

Seven Foods to Keep You Young

It's very alarming that most of the people with jobs and so are the students are always having stress due to busy schedules and burdens that we sometimes think we can't solve. The sad but true thing regarding this stress is, it is making us look old!

Another point is that, "older" people always want to look young yet they don't exercise, do and eat things that is good in order for them to keep young. There are also cases that adults use ant-aging cream to conceal their true age. Although some these products works, but only for some. In the end, they'll just sit down in their couch wondering why they don't look younger.

We never want to look old, right?

So I did some research regarding some simple was in order for us to maintain our pleasant skin and be able to be young all the time. Luckily, I found an article in MSN Health and Fitness, suggesting foods that we must all eat to keep as young. Now check this everyday and common foods that will make us glow and stay young.

Olive Oil

Four decades ago, researchers from the Seven Countries Study concluded that the monounsaturated fats in olive oil were largely responsible for the low rates of heart disease and cancer on the Greek island of Crete. Now we know that olive oil also contains polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that may help prevent age-related diseases.

Yogurt

In the 1970s, Soviet Georgia was rumored to have more centenarians per capita than any other country. Reports at the time claimed that the secret of their long lives was yogurt, a food ubiquitous in their diets. While the age-defying powers of yogurt never have been proved directly, yogurt is rich in calcium, which helps stave off osteoporosis and contains "good bacteria" that help maintain gut health and diminish the incidence of age-related intestinal illness.

Fish

Thirty years ago, researchers began to study why the native Inuits of Alaska were remarkably free of heart disease. The reason, scientists now think, is the extraordinary amount of fish they consume. Fish is an abundant source of omega-3 fats, which help prevent cholesterol buildup in arteries and protect against abnormal heart rhythms.

Chocolate

The Kuna people of the San Blas islands, off the coast of Panama, have a rate of heart disease that is nine times less than that of mainland Panamanians. The reason? The Kuna drink plenty of a beverage made with generous proportions of cocoa, which is unusually rich in flavanols that help preserve the healthy function of blood vessels. Maintaining youthful blood vessels lowers risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and dementia.

Nuts

Studies of Seventh-Day Adventists (a religious denomination that emphasizes healthy living and a vegetarian diet) show that those who eat nuts gain, on average, an extra two and a half years. Nuts are rich sources of unsaturated fats, so they offer benefits similar to those associated with olive oil. They’re also concentrated sources of vitamins, minerals and other phytochemicals, including antioxidants.

Wine

Drinking alcohol in moderation protects against heart disease, diabetes and age-related memory loss. Any kind of alcoholic beverage seems to provide such benefits, but red wine has been the focus of much of the research. Red wine contains resveratrol, a compound that likely contributes to its benefits—and, according to animal studies, may activate genes that slow cellular aging.

Blueberries

In a landmark study published in 1999, researchers at Tufts University’s Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging fed rats blueberry extract for a period of time that in "rat lives" is equivalent to 10 human years. These rats outperformed rats fed regular chow on tests of balance and coordination when they reached old age. Compounds in blueberries (and other berries) mitigate inflammation and oxidative damage, which are associated with age-related deficits in memory and motor function.

Sometimes, we never realize that this ordinary foods we see in our kitchen can help us maintain our younger-looking skin and face. Of course, these foods will surely take effect with proper attitude towards life and how you live it.
Stay young!

My Rainy Days

I definitely and absolutely convinced and accept the reality now that summer is over. Those hot and free days were over and I welcome with my life the season called Rainy Days.

It was yesterday when the rain was so heavy and together with my friends, we were just looking at it in one building of our university. I can still remember when I said "kusogkusog ulan", meaning, "rain please pour harder and heavier." I muttered that words for one simple reason, I don't want our professor to hold a class considering that during that time also there was a complete current block-out in our school, and in that case, our teacher wont be able to hold our class.

And so the rain poured hard and the electric supply hasn't returned yet even after our scheduled time of class 6:00 P.M. I and also my classmates went home with a very big smiling face! Weeii..

Now FYI, as I am writing every single letter of this post, I can hear that pouring sound of a heavy rain in our roof. Yes, today is another rainy day. I don't know if I'll be happy because it's a best time to relax and sleep or should I be sad knowing that.....WAIT...

OUR KITCHEN IS FLOODED! NOoooo!

I'll just publish this now and find a way to somehow stop the cascading water that is almost entering our living room now!

6 Great Foods for Men

As usual, most of the girls are very conscious on what they eat for they always consider and maintain their figure. With regards to the boys or should I say "men", although some are conscious on what they eat, still, almost all of them aren't considering what can they get on the foods that they intake.

And so this post is for the big and young boys who want to improve their mood, memory, muscles, and more. Forget all those expensive potentially risky supplements.

Here we go.

Sardines For Heart Health
Ounce for ounce, sardines are one of the best sources for heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids and are extremely low in contaminants such as mercury and PCBs. They’re also eco-friendly, packed with protein, and low in saturated fat. Canned versions are inexpensive, portable, and don’t require refrigeration. Choose no-salt-added brands, and keep the bones in for a third of your recommended daily calcium. Sardines are great on salads or layered on top of whole-grain crackers.

Brazil Nuts For Prostate Health
Brazil nuts are one of the richest food sources of selenium, a mineral that may reduce a man’s risk of developing prostate cancer. Selenium may be toxic if taken in daily doses of more than 400 micrograms (mcg). But one Brazil nut has about 100 mcg. One or two mixed with other nuts each day will give you just the right amount.

Edamame For Mood
Mood is affected by a combination of factors, including brain chemistry, life events, and the foods you eat. Of these, only diet is under your control. Fiber-rich carbohydrates such as oats and edamame (green soybeans in the pod) help prevent mood fluctuations by keeping your blood-sugar levels steady. Edamame also contain protein, which further helps stabilize blood sugar, and omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to help combat depression. You can find them in just about any Japanese restaurant. They often come heavily salted, so request them “nude” or lightly coated. You also can buy frozen edamame pods at health-food stores and many supermarkets. Take ‘em home, boil, drain, and enjoy!

Sesame Seeds For Sex Drive
They’re inexpensive, safe, and don’t require a prescription. They’re also very rich in the amino acid arginine, which is involved in synthesizing nitric oxide, a compound that enhances blood flow through the arteries and—ahem—to various other male body parts. Toasted sesame seeds add a nice nutty taste to salads, cooked grains, or cereal. You also can enjoy them in hummus, which is made with ground chickpeas and sesame seed paste (called tahini).

Blueberries For Memory
These days, it seems you can’t say enough about the health benefits of blueberries. But did you know that much of their power lies in their color? That deep blue hue is caused by flavonoids—natural compounds that protect the brain’s memory-carrying cells (neurons) from the negative effects of oxidation and inflammation. Buy firm-fleshed berries or, off-season, try frozen, unsweetened varieties. Eat with plain yogurt, as a topping for cereal, or right out of the bowl.

Lentils For Energy
Rich in fiber and protein—both of which are digested slowly—lentils provide a steady source of energy. They’re also a good source of several B vitamins essential to energy production, as well as iron, which helps red blood cells carry oxygen. Try whipping up a big batch of lentil soup, and you’ll have a hearty lunch for days.

So what are doing there? Head to your local supermarket now and you’ll find foods that help prevent age-related health conditions. As an added bonus, they all taste great and are easy to incorporate into your diet.

Tired - PERIOD!

I can still remember summer when I was sooooo excited to go to school again to mingle again with my peers and to experience more the sweat-dripping challenge that my professors will give. It was those summer days when sometimes I get so bored because I'm not at school.

And now, it has all changed! I'm in school now. Mingling with my closest peers and laughing with them. Sharing every joke we have in mind. Haaaaayyyy..and the worst is..AGAIN, we are facing the new challenges OUR professors are burdening us. OOOOhhhhwww no! Let me just share to you what keeps me so stressed out this days!

:(

1. Our MSU-IIT Museum Inventory, Forecasting and Inventory System, the one we are making, is still NOT DONE! And now, I still have an INCOMPLETE rating for that one majot subject, CSC182.

2. The fact that I must overload my Subject Units next semester in order for me to reach my parents expectation - TO GRADUATE!

3. I am now afraid AGAIN, that...I can't finish our Thesis for this semester, The Course Shifting System. But i'll just hope for the best! :)

4. Etcetera!

My Mom and Dad's 22nd Year Anniversary!

I arrived home late today and noticed a different aura in our house. While I was changing my clothes and checking my e-mail, my sister called me for our dinner. Surprisingly, I was very much amazed in the scene I found in our dining table! It has fruit salad, "adobong baboy" and etc.

Out of curiosity, I asked my sister what's the occasion. My sister wasn't answering because her mouth was filled with goodies my mother served and so my younger brother answered me. "Anniversary!", he said.
OOOWwwwhhh..(that was a big one!). And so I ask my mother what's the day today but she just answered me with a smile so I looked at our calendar and realize it was, June 18! I gave my mother a sweet smile and a soft greeting and she again replied me with a smile!

While eating, I teased my mother for being one of the very common "June's Bride!" LOL! My other siblings laughed about that too! :) Moving on, I also asked my mother how long have they've been together before marriage. And she whispered, "six years!". Wow! That was tough I thought! My father was indeed very patient, faithful and "honest." So all in all I thought, they were together for 26 years now! Wooh, that was long and I am just happy about it.

The dinner ended with me wishing they can still celebrate their Silver Anniversary or perhaps even better if they can go all the way to GOLD!

...Wait, I forgot to mention about my father, where is he? LOL, he wasn't there when we had our dinner! He was with my other sister and they went to my cousin's house to welcome her home from abroad. But it wasn't a big deal for us. They did arrive not too late to celebrate my MOM and DAD's 22nd year together as a couple!

One Great Sunday Morning!

I just woke up a while ago and it was a good thing hearing the song in our DVD Son of God by the Hillsong! The song was really inspiring so I got up and went to our living room to watch also the video of that said song. After hearing that song, I ate my breakfast filled with more love in myself to GOD! To God be the Glory!

Have great Sunday everyone! God Bless!

Blizer's, (with an apostrophe 's')our team purok here in my place just won their second basketball match against the team called "RIVERS." Ask me now, why that other team were called "RIVERS?"

Refreshed!

Summer is always hot, hot and hot! It's pretty irritating to have dry skin, sun burn and headache in this season. Because of that, after our very recent fiesta celebration, me and my relatives decided to refresh in a place that we call here, TIMOGA! Actually, Timoga is just the name of the location of the place not really the name of the exact hangout but the people here are already used to call it that way..so we will call it Timoga - period.

In there, you will be able to refresh yourself with thier different kinds and sizes of swimming pools filled with natural spring water (I'm not talking about that bottled water..LOL). Yah, the waters are so cold and cascades really from the top of the mountains through the pipes and then through the swimming pools that will surely make you forget the "truth" about summmer.

I took some pictures. Take a look.

I'm Absent!

I woke up earlier today feeling my head burning for sleeping very very late "hours ago!" It was already 2:00 am in the morning when I decided to sleep and relax my redish eyes. I was tied up into my computers temptation and the internet, experimenting and surfing possible ways in monetizing by blog.

When I woke up a while ago, and felt that strange headache, I decided to be absent for today's On-the-Job Training!

I'll relax 'til Monday!
