Elizabowl

The image you see above is called the Elizabowl, FIRST PLACE winner of the International Housewares Association's 2008 Student Design Competition.

For over 15 years now, there have been a nationwide contest that encourages and recognizes the unique creativity of young industrial designers. There one-of-a-kind innovations and creations may appear in your own home someday soon.

"Everybody knows, thanks to an old cliché, that one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. But never before has anyone offered such a thoughtful solution as Sarah O'Brien, a senior at the University of Louisiana.

O'Brien took first place in the 2008 Student Design Competition for her Elizabowl, an interlaced system of pockets that blossoms to accommodate the amount of fruit on hand. "Because each piece is kept in a separate container, if one piece starts to go bad it can't have that chemical conversation with neighboring fruit telling them to go bad," explains O'Brien.

Elizabowl demonstrates O'Brien's keen sense for industrial design and also her appreciation for history: Her invention is named for its similarity to collars worn during the Elizabethan period."

I Have Switched

I've been using Internet Explorer from the very start when I first learned how use a computer and the internet. I don't know. I was attached to it for almost seven years and that's maybe because that's the default browser for almost all the computers that I've used before.

I can still remember during my high school days when I was so addicted to the Internet because of Friendster and all this stuffs, I did really complain on one of the attendant on one of the Internet cafe's I've hanged out before for not having the browser that I'm used to - the Internet Explorer. And so I have no choice at that time but to use Opera, another browser.

Even though I was always challenged by many factors regarding my choice to idolize IE, I really never abandoned the browser that I consider InternetMate!

But during this past days, I've encountered a lot of bugs on my new updated Internet Explorer. It loads slower than the usual speed, it makes my computer hang every time I open a website such as this blog, the tabbing features sucks since sometimes it's not responding and the worst of all, it often closed automatically and makes me irritated. I have sent error reports to Microsoft but as we all know, the corporation only updates their browser for about every four years or make that loooong four years!

And so because of those stated situation and problems, I decided to switch to Mozilla Firefox Browser 3! Wohhow! Now, my blog loads faster and most importantly, I can see already the badge from IZEA Inc. displaying my RealRank! Also, presently I am having no problems with bugs on this browser..so far! And OH I remember, Firefox only claims a small size of your hard disks and that's 23.98 MB only in my computer. Another thing is, Mozilla Firefox is an open-source browser meaning it's FREE and you can do something to or improve it as long as it's approved by the developers! See? It's amazing isn't it?! Now I realize there are still free stuffs in this expensive world right now.

Sexy Gadgets

I browse over Yahoo today and I saw this article entitled Gadgets Too Sexy for Your Pocket featured in the site's index. I liked the title of the article and so I checked it out.

Surprisingly, the article was so informative that it gave me fresh updates on where really the "Computer Age" had brought me. It somehow gave me a glimpse of what is really some of the hippest trend of gadgets in this century I live in.

And so here are the gadgets, and tell me which of these are your favorites.

LG Vu
A lookalike to LG's European-only Prada phone, the Vu has a 3-inch touchscreen with a virtual QWERTY keyboard, 3G (HSDPA) for fast Web browsing, a 2 megapixel camera, and stereo Bluetooth. The full-screen MediaFLO mobile TV and half-inch waistline are pretty sexy too.

Samsung Instinct
The next potential iPhone-killer has a haptic-enabled touchscreen for tactile feedback, voice navigation, video recording, EVDO, GPS, and Sprint mobile TV, all crammed into a 1/2-inch frame. The device has so much going on, in fact, that you may not even notice it lacks WiFi. (Available soon.)

Apple iPhone 3G

Archos 605 WiFi 160GB
The 605 WiFi may be a plus-size model, but there's plenty to drool about in this 802.11g-enabled mobile digital video recorder. The 160GB model is just .78 inches thick and has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, though you'll have to shell out extra dough to access the DVR, Web browsing and GPS features.

Apple MacBook Air (My Favorite! Yay!)
Apple's ultra-thin notebook competes with the big boys, though the system's lack of an optical drive and high price keep its target market somewhat niche. The thinnest version (a manila envelope-fitting .16 inches!) runs off a 64GB solid-state drive and packs up to a 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM.

This is one of the best-looking and least bulky Bluetooth headsets out there, and it works reliably with very effective noise suppression. It even comes with a small case that has a built-in rechargeable battery so you can juice up the headset on the go.

These in-ear headphones are billed as the world's smallest, but the sound quality they provide proves richer and fuller than the sort offered by larger competitors. The eartips are extremely comfortable, and the black and copper design screams high fashion, as, sadly, does the price tag too.

That Size Issue

Wooh, I got now my size 6 "Althen" Slipper from Boardwalk that cost only Php 157.00!

Last week, I ordered this stuff from my aunt who is a dealer of direct selling companies like Boardwalk and ..others. First, I told my aunt to give me a size 10 after basing my other slipper that is also a size 10 and very well fitted to my foot (LOL). But then she told me after looking at my feet to order size 8 because this company has and "American" standard sizes. Meaning..BIG! So, I agreed and trusted her. Two days..ohw..make that three days later, she showed to me the size 8! Damn..I was shocked! It was so big!!! And on that very moment I realized how blind am I in this kind of stuffs (I mean ordering from direct sellers) thinking that size 10 slipper would fit me.

And so, I tell her to change that size 8 to 7 after fitting the size 8. After four days, she showed me the size I told her to bring me. But..But...it was still big! It did not fit me.. I mean my foot..or feet. (LOL). And so I tell her to change the size 7 to size 6! After yesterday, I got my slipper! I tried fitting the slipper and was glad after changing all that stuff, size 6 fitted me!

Now, I am so happy to have my new slipper! Now I am ready for our outing this Sunday! *grin*
